The Chinese language major is a field of in-depth training in Chinese language, culture, and history of China. Students will learn how to use Chinese efficiently, from daily communication to specialized texts, while also having deeper exploration about the country and people of China.
Is there an entry requirement for studying Chinese?
For the Chinese language program at the International College of Ho Chi Minh City, it is not mandatory to know Chinese before enrolling. The school will provide a curriculum that ranges from basic to advanced levels, suitable for students who have never studied Chinese before. Students who have a foundational knowledge of Chinese can also choose higher-level courses to enhance their skills.

What will student learn in the Chinese language major ?
When studying Chinese language, students will learn:
-Grammar and vocabulary of Chinese from basic to advanced.
- Communication skills: Speaking, listening, reading, and writing fluently.
- Chinese culture and literature: Understanding Chinese culture, customs, and history.
- Interpretation and translation: The skill of converting from Chinese to Vietnamese and vice versa.
- Specialized Chinese: The application of Chinese in fields such as business, tourism, and diplomacy.

What are the job opportunities for the Chinese language major after graduating from ICH?
The Chinese language program provides many attractive job opportunities in various fields. Below are some common fields and job positions for those with Chinese language skills
Translation and Interpretation:
Translator: Translate documents from Chinese to Vietnamese or vice versa. The work may include translating books, contracts, technical documents, and other texts.
Interpreter: Carry out interpretation in meetings, seminars, events, or direct communication.
International Business and Trade:
International Business Staff: Managing and developing business relationships with Chinese partners and clients.
Education and Training:
Chinese language teacher: Teaching Chinese in schools, language centers, or online.
Teachers teaching Chinese culture: Providing knowledge about Chinese culture, history, and society.
Travel and Tour Guide:
Providing guiding services for Chinese tourists visiting Vietnam. Plan and organize travel tours for Chinese customers.
Enterprise and Business
Customer relationship management: Handling requests and resolving issues for Chinese customers in multinational companies.
Marketing and PR Specialist: Develop and implement marketing strategies targeting the Chinese market.
Government organizations and international organizations:

Jobs in the Chinese language field often require good communication skills, an understanding of Chinese culture, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment. You can enhance your job opportunities by obtaining additional professional certifications, gaining practical experience, or learning supplementary skills related to your field of interest.
When you are a student at ICH, you will have many career opportunities after graduation with large, reputable companies affiliated with the school. In addition, many students have good part-time jobs while studying because the school offers job placement services for students, allowing them to both gain knowledge and earn extra income.

Where can students intern when learning Chinese?
Students majoring in Chinese can intern at:
- Units and enterprises directly linked to the school
- Chinese enterprises: Companies with Chinese investment in Vietnam
- International organizations: Non-governmental organizations or diplomatic agencies related to China
- Language centers: Teaching or assisting at Chinese language training centers
- Travel companies: Working at travel agencies catering to the Chinese tourist market.
Reputable training – Expanding development opportunities
The administrators of ICH have also met to discuss and sign a cooperation agreement with a university in Taiwan. The school has planned to enroll and train in several fields related to finance at the college level for students graduating from high school and junior high school (CĐ 9+).
Specifically, the training fields include automotive technology, industrial electricity, computer programming, computer network management, and corporate accounting, among others. Students with an associate degree and a TOCFL A2 level in Chinese will have the opportunity to receive a full scholarship (INTENSE scholarship) and can transfer to universities in Taiwan to study in the semiconductor field. Therefore, learning Chinese will be the foundation that allows students to take a step towards a scholarship for studying in Taiwan and receive full INTENSE support.
With the INTENSE scholarship policy, Vietnamese students can receive a scholarship for 2 years at a rate of 100,000 New Taiwan Dollars per year (approximately 80 million VND per year), supported by companies with 10,000 New Taiwan Dollars per month (around 8 million VND per month), assistance for one plane ticket (up to 9,000 New Taiwan Dollars, equivalent to 7 million VND), and a document processing fee of 10,000 New Taiwan Dollars (about 7.8 million VND); 100% tuition fee waiver for the first year of study in Taiwan, with the second year based on first-year academic performance. At the same time, after graduation, there is a priority to stay and work long-term in Taiwan.

The Chinese language major not only provides language knowledge but also opens up many career opportunities in the context of the increasingly developing Vietnam-China relations. With a diverse training program and abundant internship opportunities, students majoring in Chinese can confidently enter the job market with many prospects.
